Our
youth ministries include leadership training programmes,
youth retreats, missions to schools, and skills training
programmes. We put a particular emphasis on evangelisation
through the media including film theatre and music. Our musical Forever
Home has
played in a number of venues in the country over the last 18 months.

Our Gospel CD UDUMO is played regularly on radio stations. We are responsible for the chaplaincy at Durban University of Technology and are currently planning a youth centre at inchanga. Read more ....
Our Healing ministries include Hospital chaplaincies, Ministries responding to HIV AIDS, Counseling services and prayer ministries.
A number of parishes have hospices for AIDS sufferers particularly those in the final stages of life as the opportunistic infections wear down the body. Many are under the care of religious sisters (Inchanga, Sydenham, Inanda Newtown, and Elandskop).
The Oldest Oblate, Father McMahon, who is 95 years old, has established the Sukumawenze Place of Care which offers a multi faceted approach to AIDS hospice in a Durban Township.
The AIDS action group at St Josephs Cedara provides AIDS awareness programmes to schools and youth groups. Their motto is 'No-one deserves to have AIDS' Their aim is "to show the youth that it is possible through faith in God and the support of peer groups to live HIV/AIDS free lives. Read more ...

In 1852 five Oblates arrived in Durban to found the Church in Natal. Today we continue continue to minister in the Archdiocese of Durban in 22 parishes. Our focus is on the poor and marginalised wherever they are. But we are aware that spiritual poverty is found in all communities whatever their socio-economic status. Oblates began training priests in South Africa in 1942. Our Scholasticate in Cedara has trained many Priests, both Oblates and others. Today St Joseph's Scholasticate (http://scholasticate.sjti.ac.za/) is the largest community of male religious in South Africa with more than 70 members including 62 who are in formation for the Priesthood and religious life.
In 1991 with the collaboration of other religious orders we established St. Josephs Theological Institute (www.sjti.ac.za) which specialises in the theological and philosophical education for Priesthood. In addition it offers other programmes of ministry training in Theology, Philosophy and Religious Studies. Read more ....
In addition to the tertiary academic institution St.Joseph's Theological Institute, we own two schools, Inchanga Primary School and Sibongumbomvu School in Cedara.
In 2000 Zimbabwe mission was transferred to the Natal Province. There are currently 6 Oblates working there. They run St Luke's mission in Lupane and Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Bulawayo. They also have a formation house and mission centre in Bulawayo.
