Every year the College celebrates the day of our patron saint, St Augustine. On 28 August 2001 we celebrated the feast of St Augustine by inviting all the "Friends of St Augustine" to this occasion. After celebrating Mass, Dr Nicholas King, Dean of studies at St John Vianney Seminary in Pretoria gave a very meaningful and enjoyable talk on "St Augustine Today". Dr King emphasized the importance of St Augustine as very much an African, as member of the Church universal, always looking for news ways of expressing the truth about God and his love of Scripture. Dr King also articulated some thoughts on St Augustine and sexuality pointing to his extraordinarly openness about sexuality. Lastly, Dr King commented on the fact that St Augustine lived at an extraordinarly difficult juncture in history and with St Augustine we also can say "Utamur et nos sua pace".
A copy of Dr King's talk is available from the Academic Dean at the following address  rvv@staugustine.ac.za
